The use of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) is prohibited
The group of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) covers several hundred individual substances. What all these compounds have in common is that they are made up of a matrix of linked benzene rings.
According to the Federal Department for Risk Evaluation, there is good reason to believe that these PAH substances are responsible for changing genetic makeup, causing cancer and affecting reproduction.
The committee for technical equipment and consumer products (AtAV) has decided on the binding inclusion of checking for PAH within the context of awarding the GS mark. The new testing specification obtaining the GS mark has been in force since 01.04.2008 and specified limit values for the PAH content depending on type and duration of contact.
In order to ensure that PFERD products comply with these requirements, all the products delivered to PFERD must comply with this specification and meet the category 2 limit values at least. In particular, no softening agents and carbon blacks containing PAH may be used.
As in previous years, PFERD will be exhibiting its products on numerous trade shows.
