What does REACH mean?
As of 1st June 2007, the EU's new REACH Regulation (1907/2006/EC) has been in force, reshaping the law regarding chemicals quite fundamentally. By adopting REACH (registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals), legislators have sought to minimize the hazards and risks associated with chemical substances and to ensure a higher level of protection for humans and the environment.
Under REACH, the main responsibility for the management of any potential risks related to chemical substances is placed on industry. Likewise, industry is held responsible for the provision of appropriate safety information to users. The impact of the regulation extends to the entire supply chain. Close cooperation and communication with suppliers and customers are imperative.
PFERD has examined this regulation very thoroughly. Needless to say, we shall meet and constructively implement all obligations ensuing from this instrument. Dr Birgit Franken has been appointed the central contact in our company for all REACH-related issues ( firstname.lastname@example.org ). Please do not hesitate to contact her for any advice you may need. We will be happy to advise you.
Information from PFERD
Under Article 33 of the regulation, every supplier (manufacturer or importer) of a product which contains any substance from the “REACH candidate list” in a concentration exceeding 0.1 % by weight has a duty to report this. Please note that this list will be continuously expanded and updated.
As a manufacturer of premium tools, we keep our customers informed and identify all products concerned in the table entitled REACH list . The development of new products and manufacturing methods and the ongoing improvement of our product portfolio are essential corporate objectives at PFERD. We are therefore particularly keen to act as quickly as possible to find solutions which will allow us to do without the substances mentioned in the candidate list in the manufacture of PFERD tools in the future. We hereby confirm that the products produced by PFERD contain no substances listed in the “REACH candidate list” (according to the latest version) under Article 59 (1) of (EC) regulation no. 1907/2006 (REACH) in concentrations above 0.1 % by weight.
