X-LOCK tools developed to perfection

PFERD developed the tool-side holder of the new X-LOCK system from Bosch and is starting with a wide range of tools.
With X-LOCK, Bosch is presenting a changing system for angle grinders that is equally simple and revolutionary; it allows you to carry out the tool change up to five times faster. Instead of assembling the tool with a flange, clamping nut and key and using plenty of time and effort, X-LOCK allows you to assemble tools with just one click. Disassembly of the tool is also fast and extremely easy – by pulling on the lever in the centre of the angle grinder, the tool is ejected when the drive is stationary.
"PFERD was very actively involved in the development of the X-LOCK system," explains Jörn Bielenberg, CEO of the Marienheide-based manufacturer of tools for work on surfaces and cutting materials. "Bosch asked us to develop the toolside holder for the system; this was something we were very happy to take on." Bielenberg says that PFERD immediately had the idea of making changing tools safer and faster, "particularly because this design would be in accordance with typical PFERD values: safety and cost efficiency." From a technological point of view, we were well placed to be able to deliver this development due to existing knowledge in connecting abrasive and carrier materials with metallic components from the field of stationary cut-off wheels.
The PFERD CEO has no doubt that the X-LOCK system will be successful: "Quickchanging systems have to be of interest to the end consumer in these times of cost and margin pressure. The focus here is on realising the savings potential and productivity reserves that are possible with X-LOCK." The PFERD range of tools with the X-LOCK system currently includes 60 items, including the well-known and popular 1.0 mm SG STEELOX cut-off wheels, grinding wheels for processing steel and INOX, various POLIVLIES and POLIFAN flap discs, e.g. the powerful Z SG STEELOX as well as cup and wheel brushes, each with various types and dimensions.
